Country & Two-Step Experience — Frequently Asked Questions

Will I learn the Texas Two-Step you'd actually see at a country bar?

Yes — the version we teach (quick-quick-slow-slow) is the standard step used at country dance halls and honky-tonks across San Diego, Texas, and Nashville. You'll learn the basic step, the line of dance flow, and a couple of turns so you don't feel stuck on the floor.

Is Country dancing the same as line dancing?

No. Country partner dancing — Two-Step, Country Waltz, Country Swing — is a couple's dance done in a moving line around the floor. Line dancing (think 'Boot Scootin' Boogie') is solo and choreographed. This experience is partner dancing, not line dancing.

What should I wear and what shoes work best for Country dance?

Jeans or comfortable bottoms, plus boots with a leather sole if you have them. Cowboy boots or any leather-soled boot is ideal. Sneakers work but they grip too much for spins. Avoid heels above 2 inches.

Which San Diego venues are best for practicing what I learn?

In Diego Drive-In Country, In Cahoots in El Cajon, and Boot Barn Hall events are popular spots. Country socials usually have a mix of two-step, country waltz, and country swing — exactly what we teach.

Do I need any prior dance experience?

Not at all! Experiences are designed for absolute beginners. We'll start from the very basics and build your confidence step by step.

What should I wear to my experience?

Comfortable clothing you can move in and smooth-soled shoes. Avoid flip-flops, heels higher than 2 inches, or sticky rubber soles.

Can I book this as a gift?

Yes! Experiences make wonderful gifts. Just mention in the notes that it's a gift and we'll provide a gift certificate you can present beautifully.

What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens! We offer flexible rescheduling with at least 24 hours notice. Just reach out and we'll find a new time that works.
