# Military Ball Dance Lessons in San Diego

Getting invited to a Navy or Marine Corps ball in San Diego? To get through a whole night of dancing, you really only need about three types of dances: a slow one, a medium one and a fast one.

## The Three Dances That Cover the Whole Night

Slow

### Foxtrot

Fits smooth, slower songs — big-band standards and romantic ballads where couples glide around the floor.

A beginner learns the slow-slow-quick-quick rhythm, a comfortable closed hold and how to travel together without bumping into other couples.

Medium

### Swing

Fits mid-tempo, upbeat songs — oldies, rock-and-roll and plenty of modern pop with a steady bounce.

A beginner learns the basic swing rhythm, a simple underarm turn and how to lead or follow a few easy moves on a crowded floor.

Fast

### Hustle / Disco

Fits fast, driving songs — disco, funk and the high-energy dance hits the DJ plays later in the night.

A beginner learns the hustle count, a basic turn pattern and how to keep it smooth instead of frantic when the tempo picks up.

## What to Expect & What to Wear to Practice

- Private lessons at Infinity Dance Sport Center in Kearny Mesa — just you (and your date, if they can make it) with Noe.
- We focus on the three dances above and on getting comfortable dancing in formal wear on a busy floor.
- Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. If you can, bring the shoes you'll wear to the ball for at least one practice so they don't surprise you on the night.

## Military Ball Lessons FAQ

### How many lessons do we need?

The 2-Class Dance Experience gets you comfortable with the basics. If you want to feel solid in all three dances — slow, medium and fast — the 3-Week Sprint's six lessons give you time to cover each one.

### Can I come without my date?

Yes. Lessons are private, so you can learn on your own with Noe and bring your date to a later lesson if their schedule allows. No partner needed.

### How soon before the ball should we start?

Start a few weeks out if you can, so the steps have time to sink in. Even a short runway helps — text Noe with your ball date and we'll plan around it.

Level Up With Noe is an independent dance instruction business and is not affiliated with the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps or any military organization.
